When it comes to holidays, the USA is often a choice for many. There are some obvious destinations that people may have on their bucket lists. But the truth is, the US has fifty states, all different and unique in their own way. A state is often like visiting a different country sometimes. There are cultures to embrace, different ways of life, climates and terrains. Epic cities, small towns, beaches and vast lakes. There really is more than meets the eye.
The All-American States To Visit
While the obvious destinations like Orlando, New York City, Las Vegas or Los Angeles are some of the highest ranked locations on bucket lists, I wanted to share with you some of the US states that you should add to your list, and not just for the envious reasons. Whether you visit one state and decide to explore it, or embrace a road trip style holiday, here are some of the states in the USA you ought to visit when planning your next trip stateside.
Texas
There are some excellent cities in the state of Texas, which is why it is fast becoming a popular place to take a trip. You have the fabulous live music that the city of Austin can offer. The NASA space station in Houston and even the fabulous art district of Dallas. But you can also enjoy a more laid-back and multicultural vibe in the city of San Antonio. Where you can sit and relax along the riverside in a gorgeous boutique cafe people watching.
Texas may have broad thinking on many different issues, but visiting the state for some of the better aspects of it such as the different cities and diverse areas, could provide a great base. It is one of the Southern states, so you know you are guaranteed some incredible food. It really is a diverse state and one to consider for the future.
Colorado
You could consider the state of Colorado for your next trip away. The city of Denver has a lot to offer anybody, especially if you are a fan of the Titanic film as the Titanic Survivor Molly Brown’s mansion is here as well. However, if skiing is more your thing then the Rocky mountains have plenty of ski resorts to keep you excited. Colorado is one of the Western states and is more famed for the incredible countryside and plenty of hiking opportunities. This is a great location if your family want to be outside and explore some beautiful locations.
Florida
Florida really is one of those states that has it all. The fabulous Orlando is the perfect destination for all of the family thanks to the amazing theme parks, or you have the beautiful beaches of the Florida Keys and Fort Lauderdale. But you also have Miami, the city that never sleeps.
With its Cuban influences and the biggest stretch of white sandy beaches you really could have a lot of fun in this place. Florida is one of those states that lends itself well to a road trip. The beautiful islands that you will find, and the more relaxed vibe compared to Orlando and Miami means there really is something for everyone.
California
The sunshine state that is California has much to offer. The famous Hollywood hills in Los Angeles and the shopping opportunities on Rodeo Drive. The great sights that San Francisco has to offer with the famous Alcatraz prison being a landmark definitely worth a visit, as well as the cool more laid-back vibes that places like Santa Barbara, Laguna Beach, and Santa Cruz can offer. This is definitely a state to consider for your next getaway, especially on a road trip.
Wyoming
Wyoming is tucked away in the west and is one of the larger states but is actually one of the most sparsely populated. This is one of those rugged landscapes where you will find cowboy ranches, hot springs, and lots of beautiful areas to explore. It might not have been on your radar before, but certainly should be for future travel opportunities.
Illinois
Finally, we have the state of Illinois and one of the famous landmarks within it happens to be the city of Chicago. It is actually one of the largest cities in the US. Famous for its bold architecture and a skyline filled with fabulous skyscrapers, it really is a sight to see. It is also on the famous Lake Michigan which gives it a different feel from other cities in the US.
I hope that this has given you some food for thought for your next trip to the states.
