Enjoy the Wildlife Preserves in Rincon
Just 20 miles away from Puerto Rico’s mainland, Descheo Island beckons all nature lovers. This wildlife preserve has been left to follow its own natural course and is populated by unusual coral formation, reel fish, and pelagics. Many choose this island as an idea spot for diving as it offers many spectacular underwater views of marine life.
Cavernous Mona Island rises from 22,000 feet underwater to a flat plateau above 200-ft. cliffs. The underwater terrain is spectacular with its arches, crevices, and tunnels. Above ground is just as amazing. The dry cacti terrain is highlighted by a few white-sand beaches where large iguanas roam freely as red-footed boobies and white-tailed tropic birds soar above them. Diving can be done by the experienced.
Monito Island has no beaches. Large schools of pelagics and other tropical fish can be seen in summer months while humpback whales can be viewed during the winter. Diving can be done close to shore beside huge fallen boulders.
Explore the Beaches in Rincon
Rincon has a number of beaches the enjoyment of its visitors, but Corsega Beach is the nicest for swimming and sunbathing. Snorkeling, sailing, and jet skiing are also available. Anyone wanting to surf might want to try Dome’s Beach and Maria’s Beach. People come from around the world to experience the awesome waves. There is too much coral at Steps Beach for swimming, but it makes for a great snorkeling spot. Taino Divers offers diving and snorkelling trips as well as sunset cruises, and Sandy Beach is loads of fun for everyone with its capacity for bodysurfing and boogie boarding.
Fish in the Deep in Rincon
Makaira Fishing Charters welcomes everyone to join them for a day of deep-sea fishing aboard their 31’ Contender. For variety, they also offer trolling, bottom fishing, live-bait fishing, and kite fishing. Anyone who is a fisherman (or woman) may want to spend a day with Makaira.

What better way is there to explore the Puerto Rican coastline than aboard the thirty-two foot Katrina? A cruise aboard this catamaran is an unforgettable experience. Katrina sets sail at 10:30 am and then again at 4:30 pm. Hop on board!
Entertainment and Nightlife in Rincon
The Landing, Rincon
The Landing is popular. So popular, in fact, that as many as 800 people may abide under its roof on a Friday or Saturday night. Now, that’s popular.
Villa Cofresi, Rincon
This restaurant is quite pleasant during the day. If offers a light meal and relaxation. The cabana bar on the beach offers drinks, including the signature “Pirata.” They say its get a little crazy after dark, however, so don’t plan on relaxing then.
Rincon is a laid-back, friendly place. There should be no problem with crime or violence. Of course, that does not mean being careless or indiscreet is an option. As with anywhere else, good judgment in Rincon is always a plus.
