Zip World
If you and the family class yourselves as adrenalin seekers then look no further than heading to Zip World. There are a few different locations in North Wales all offering unique activities for you to enjoy. You can head to Betws-y-Coed for the Fforest coaster where you can enjoy a toboggan-style ride through the forest as well as Tree Top nets and the Zip safari. Or you could head to Penrhyn Quarry and take on the famous Velocity 2 and catapult yourself across the quarry, as well as the quarry quads and the quarry tour. There are a few other locations in North Wales so it is always worthwhile seeing which adventure would suit you and your family.
Conwy Castle
You can’t beat a castle visit, and Conwy Castle is one of the best locations and attractions in North Wales. The Castle itself is pretty epic, with the castle walls and the rooms within the castle for you and the children to explore. There is usually some sort of event or activity taking place so it is worth checking out the website to see what is going on when you visit. A castle is a mystical place, and children love exploring a place where there is real history to discover.
Snowdonia National Park
Another great location and thing to do in North Wales has to be a visit to Snowdonia National Park. Filled with lots of wonderful walks and countryside to discover, it is a place of sheer natural beauty. You can climb to the top of Mount Snowdon, as well as enjoy the neighbouring villages and picturesque views. Definitely an option for the active family.
Visit Anglesey
Anglesey is an island in Noth Wales that can be accessed via a bridge and is well worth the extra journey during your time in North Wales. Anglesey itself has some of the most incredible beaches and rugged countryside to explore, as well as other attractions that you can enjoy on the island. Benllech is one of the more populated areas where you can enjoy some Fish and chips and a stroll along the beach.
Snowdon Mountain Railway
If you don’t fancy climbing Mount Snowdon then this is the thing for you. The Snowdon Mountain Railway is a vintage Victoria train that used to take people to the top of the mountain many years ago and today is a popular tourist attraction. The children will love sitting on the train as you climb the mountain and the summit, on a clear day, gives off some of the most incredible views of North Wales and beyond. There are also lots of picture opportunities up there as well as a cafe where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.
Welsh Mountain Zoo
When looking for things to do in North Wales during the Summer holidays, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Welsh Mountain Zoo. The Zoo has a huge collection of animals that are cared for. Heading to the website will give you an idea of any special events taking place during your time there. It is also worth checking out when the feeding times and demonstrations will be taking place so that you can get the full experience of your time at the zoo.
Great Orme – Llandudno
Llandudno is another coastal town in North Wales that has a lot to offer but one of the main attractions has to be the Great Orme. The Great Orme is a limestone headland that overlooks Llandudno. You can climb up or use the cable cars and get some incredible views while doing something a little different. The kids will love doing something a little different and it can be a lot of fun. Llandudno has plenty of cafes and bars so lots to keep you occupied during your visit.
The Smallest House in Britain
Conwy is a great town to visit in North Wales but along with the Castle, there is so much more to see and do and one thing the kids might find intriguing is the smallest house in Britain. You can actually look into a house that has had a family live there and it is described as the smallest house. Make sure you grab a couple of pictures outside of it.
Bodnant Garden – National Trust
If you are hoping to find something a little calming then heading to a National Trust is usually a great option to consider. There is quite a number to choose from in North Wales, but Bodnant Garden has to be one of the prettiest. Beautiful gardens filled with lots of colours and different plants for you to walk around and enjoy. It really is a great National Trust property to visit.
Rhyl
Finally, if you are looking for a bit of nostalgia then Rhyl has to be on your list of things to do in North Wales with kids during the summer holidays. A lovely coastal area with a great beach to enjoy but also those usual seaside attractions such as shops and arcades. Spend time playing the 2p machines and just enjoying some of the things that you may have enjoyed on holiday as a child. There is also a great coastal path to cycle on or walk down, as well as having the opportunity to enjoy some water sports. There is plenty to see and do in Rhyl and is a perfect place to visit with the kids.
