Queensland Museum South Park
You can explore the wonders of Queensland at this museum. Featured exhibits include dinosaurs, native spiders and snakes, and endangered species. The museum offers a look into the lives of Queenslanders and the native Aboriginal people. The Pandora exhibit takes you beneath the depths of the sea and the Women of the West exhibit is a tribute to the women of the Outback. The second floor of the museum is home to the Science centre which features over 170 interactive exhibits that explore science and technology.
Brisbane Skydiving Centre
The Skydiving Centre offers tandem freefall skydiving for the novice as well as the experienced skydiver. After a twenty-minute training session, an Australian Parachute Federation (APF) certified instructor will jump with you. You can purchase a video of your dive including the instruction period, the ride up on the plane, and the jump itself. Please be sure to book your time in advance.
Wet ‘n Wild Water World
This water park is located 50 km. south of Brisbane. The Wet ‘n Wild features the Mammoth Drop, a long winding water ride over rapids in a large inner tube. They also offer various water slides, a wave pool, and many exciting trips through twisting and turning waterways. If you are looking to relax, you can take a leisurely ride through Calypso Beach. This ride winds lazily past an old pirate castle, tropical gardens, and other sites. The Beach area is also available for use.
Tangalooma Dolphin Feeding and Activities
Located on Moreton Island near Brisbane, Tangalooma offers a wide variety of activities. At night you can wade out into the surf and hand-feed the dolphins. They also offer sand tobogganing, snorkelling, and scuba diving. This resort has two swimming pools, tennis courts, archery, and beach volleyball. Nature walks are available during the day or night and highlight the natural splendour of the island.
Dreamworld
Dreamworld is an adventure for the whole family. The park has a variety of thrill rides for the adults and kiddie rides for the little ones. They also have live shows featuring Spongebob Squarepants and other Nick Jr. television shows. The park also has IMAX shows lasting approximately 35 minutes. Tiger Island features rare gold and white Bengal tigers in their natural environment. You can view a wildlife presentation, play games, or take a helicopter ride.
Brookwater Golf Club
The course is considered one of the best golf courses open to the public in Australia. If you want to take in a game of golf while on vacation in Brisbane, this is the place to do it. Golfer Greg Norman designed this course. This course was designed by using the natural flow of the bushland on which it was built.
City Botanical Gardens
These gardens are along the shore of the Brisbane River. These gardens can be toured with or without a guide. Plants featured here include native plants and exotic plants brought to the area by early settlers. The gardens have a cafe, bicycle path, and picnic area.
Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm
Here you can sample some of the vineyards’ best wines and dine on some extraordinary Australian dishes. The Lavender Fields offer a breathtaking view as you dine outside. On cooler days you can dine indoors near a roaring fire. The gift shop offers a wide variety of products made with lavender. Guides are available for tours of the vineyard and the lavender fields.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
This is the oldest Koala sanctuary in the world. It is home to over 130 Koalas. Some of the many things you can do here include holding the koalas and feeding the kangaroos. The sanctuary is located along the Brisbane River and features the animals in a natural setting. This is a great place to get up close and personal with Australian wildlife.
Warner Bros. Movie World
This is Australia’s only movie-themed park. Featured here are many movie-themed rides such as the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster, the Wild West Falls Adventure Ride, and the Roadrunner Roller Coaster. Also featured are live shows like the Police Academy Stunt Show and a star parade that runs daily down Main Street. They offer a wide variety of live shows that change throughout the year. The park also offers food, games, and the Looney Toons Village for the kids.
