Travelling and exploring, as a non-tourist is lots of fun. It is not only a great adventure but it also offers actual insights about any city (or country). Most tourists love to travel to Rome. Rome does offer a lot of tourist attractions and activities but this is not it. Rome is lovely to explore as a non-tourist.
Things To Do In Rome
Buttero a Trastevere
Buttero a Trastevere is a typical Roman restaurant, which the locals absolutely love. It offers the perfect Italian cuisine that any foodie is going to enjoy. Its address is Via Lungaretta, 156, Rome, Italy. It is a famous local restaurant, so it is very easy to reach there through any sort of public transport.
Dar Buttero Hostaria
Dar Buttero Hostaria is another restaurant in the street of Trastevere. Other than excellent Italian food, the restaurant is also a treat to the eyes. It looks like a huge country kitchen with lots of colours. The walls of the restaurant are covered with paintings by local artists. To complete the theme of the country kitchen the restaurant also sports a beautiful backyard.
Ristorante Ristochicco
Ristorante Ristochicco, Borgo Pio is a place to visit for the people who want to see the true and eternal colours of the Vatican City. The restaurant has a great ambience and food. Other than that, a good thing is that the rates are quite reasonable. Anyone with a tight budget must visit this restaurant for great food and excellent service.
Fiumicino Fishing Village
Fiumicino fishing village is another interesting site for non-tourists. It used to be a fishing village, which evolved to be a significant fishing centre of Rome. Getting there is possible by tube, by bus and by plane. (Rome’s airport is located in the downtown Fiumicino).
Ostia Antica
You can reach Ostia Antica in minutes by train. It is very near to Fiumicino, from where you can get there by car. This city used to be by the river Tiber. However, by the passage of time due to silting it moved at a distance of around 3 kilometres from the beach. This place is a great place to view ancient Roman ruins.
Leonarda da Vinci Parc shopping area
This is a relatively unknown shopping area to the travellers. For the shoppers, it is truly heaven. There are about 230 shops containing all sorts of merchandise.
Scotland Yard Pub
The non-tourist pub-goers are not going to be disappointed with Rome too. This pub has a great selection of wine where wine lovers can indulge. Other than that, the pub also offers a vast Italian menu. Its location ensures that one enjoys the beauty of the shore too. The exact address is Via Attilio Corrubia 32.
Bastianelli al Molo
Any seafood lover should not miss the specialities of Bastianelli al Molo, located on the seafront. With excellent cooked fish treats, the place also offers a great view of the beach.
Perugia
Most of my traveller friends also have to visit Florence when they go to Rome. On the way to Florence, Perugia is a non-tourist site really worth seeing. Perugia is a must-see for art lovers too. The city has a treasure of art in the form of statues and drawings on the buildings.
Santa Prassede
Santa Prassede is a church that was built in the 8th century. The church is decorated with mosaics, which truly is a sight to see.
