A coastal destination holiday doesn’t always have to be the stunning beach, although that does form a basis of it, it can also be the vibe surrounding it. The places to see, the little restaurants or tavernas to eat in, and even the places to drink and the atmosphere.
Who doesn’t love a trip to the beach when you are away on holiday? Even if you don’t like the sand between your toes and feel it gets everywhere, the obligatory visit has to take place, and often a holiday can stem around your choice of location.
We spend a lot of our time researching the best holiday destinations before we part with our hard-earned cash, which got me thinking about next year’s breaks away.
10 Coastal Destinations You Should Consider Visiting Next Year
December naturally is a time of year that we look to make plans for holidays. The weather is cold and frosty, the nights are longer, and many of us can crave that sun or at least something to look forward to. This is why I thought I would share with you some of the top coastal destinations you could consider for your next holiday.
Singapore
Singapore is known for its island city nature. Tall buildings, a thriving and vibrant city that you could actually potentially live in just fine. However, as it is on the coast you will find that there are beaches there making it a real viable option for a holiday as well as a potential place to emigrate to. Of course, staying on holiday there could also mean that you need to look for places to stay which can easily be done online.
Once you have your accommodation sorted you can head to Changi beach. However, if you are looking for a more picturesque destination Sentosa island has some fantastic man-made beaches that are great to enjoy. Have you ever thought of Singapore as a holiday destination? Now you know it has it all why wouldn’t you?
Australia
Australia is well known as one of those places that have many coastal locations to choose from. So I would be here all day. But what I will say is there are few that have some standout beaches and coast vibes that you may want to consider the trip of a lifetime and get booked.
First of all, there is Sydney. An iconic destination in its own right but with beaches like the famous Bondi, you have to appreciate that it is more than just the Sydney Harbour to see. Moving along to Brisbane and also Surfers paradise. Some of the most beautiful and fascinating beaches in Australia. However, there are some great and more picturesque beaches such as Brighton Beach in Melbourne, or some of the outer suburbs in places like Western Australia. There is certainly a lot to see.
Miami
Miami happens to be a real iconic coastal town. Not only do you have the fantastic beach that has everyone posing, but alongside it, you have some vibrant bars and restaurants and city scraper hotels that can certainly have you not wanting to leave it. There is a real Cuban and Hispanic vibe to Miami, which gives this city culture and diversity. It is certainly one to add to the list.
Antigua
When you think of a beautiful beach, your thoughts drift off to white sandy beaches, crystal blue waters, and a fantastic beach hut on hand making you Pina Coladas. Am I right? If that sounds like your idea of heaven then the Caribbean will always be a winner when it comes to coastal destinations for your next holiday.
Shoal Bay in Antigua, in particular, is hailed as one of the best beaches in the world. Which is quite the accolade. Antigua is also a real popular holiday destination to consider, so you won’t be short of accommodation options or flights.
California
While I could talk to you about some of the great locations California has to offer. The beaches in Los Angeles, the quieter more beautiful places like Santa Barbara, there is one beach that I just needed to mention and I definitely think it would be worthy of a visit if you ever find yourself in California. Glass beach is on the Mendocino coast.
From 1906 to 1967 this beach used to be a dumping ground, and while this may not seem attractive right now, hear me out. Metal, glass, pot, and even cars were dumped there until there was an order to clean up the sea. Toxic and metal rubbish has since been removed but the glass and pot have been broken down by the waves to create beautiful sea glass everywhere. It’s part of a national park now and people are forbidden to remove the glass, but it is definitely a beach with a difference.
Thailand
I think we can all agree, that Thailand sits high alongside places like the Caribbean when it comes to beach holidays. It just depends on which direction you want to fly and what time of year you are visiting. Thailand, not only has beaches on the mainland, but if you visit some of the other islands like Koh Samui, or Koh Phangan then you will find some real secluded spots to take in.
While some of these holiday hotspots are thriving with tourists there are still some secluded hamlets, and Koh Kradan provides some excellent snorkelling opportunities.
Bora Bora
Maybe you want a totally different destination to see next year. Perhaps you like the idea of heading somewhere exotic and flamboyant. Then the coastal destination for you has to be a place like Bora Bora. A favourite of the Kardashian clan and other celebrities alike, this is the prime definition of what a beautiful beach is. White fine sands, bright blue waters, corals, and snorkelling options with exotic accommodation to boot. It really could be the first-class holiday you were after. Do you have a special occasion to celebrate?
Brazil
Brazil may not be a destination that you have considered before. But perhaps now you might think it could be worthwhile. You not only have Rio De Janeiro with its remarkable sights and one of the wonders of the world is the Christ the Redeemer to see. But you also have some fabulous beaches to explore and settle down on when you want to take a moment from the vibrant city. Honey Island is the place to go if you really want to feel removed from the hustle and bustle of life. It is a no-car zone, and what you find is mile after mile of scenic coastline. Sounds like heaven doesn’t it?
The Philippines
Okay, so with more than 7,000 islands and more than 22,000 miles of coastline, surely there can’t be one place to see in The Philippines. Of course, it is well-known for having great coastal destinations and beaches and one, in particular, would be Sabang in Western Palawan. It is the definition of a tropical beach. It has a community feel, with colourful boats adorning the coastline and a pretty village where you could sample drinks and foods. There are also some fabulous places to visit and the capital of Manila, is sure to be a hit if you feel like you need a bit of city life during your holiday escape.
Fiji
Finally beautiful Fiji. One of those places that sit on your bucket list, right? The place that you may get to one day, but never make the plans to go. Why not do it? There are some crazy secluded beaches to escape to and one, in particular, can be reached by boat. It’s called the Vanua Balavu, and it could definitely make your holiday that extra bit special.
I hope some of these options have inspired you to consider some of the wonderful coastal destinations on offer.
