When it comes to travelling, mums are the ones that tend to organise the whole thing. They may be involved in the booking side of things, the research, and where to go. But they also have control over the packing. It might not be as far as packing their partners’ cases, but they certainly take on the packing for themselves and their children.
Travel essentials that every mum needs to pack
Packing your kid’s suitcases, the hand luggage, and ensuring that they have everything that they need can be overwhelming. So because of that, it often means that you can forget the essentials that you need for your holiday. After all, it is your holiday too. So I wanted to share with you some of the travel essentials that every mum should really pack.
The camera
One thing that is easy to forget is your camera. Going on holiday is so much fun, and you will want to capture the memories as and when you can. Packing your camera, the charger, and any additional lenses is a good idea. If you don’t usually take a camera, make sure you have storage on your phone for all of those snaps.
Sanitary products
We often can predict when mother nature is due to call, but sometimes we can forget to check or just be unfortunate to experience it while away. So make sure you pack some sanitary products so that you can feel as comfortable as possible while away.
Swimming essentials
It can also be easy to forget some of the essentials including what you need to go swimming. Whether you prefer a swimming costume or a bikini, make sure to pack them at your earliest convenience. You might also want to add a cover-up and other beach and pool essentials that you might need. Having fun with the family in the sea or hotel pool is all part of your holiday, so make sure you don’t miss out.
Chargers or a power bank for your phone
Your phone will be in high demand on holiday. You might be using it to stay in touch with people at home, to take pictures and videos, and also to keep little ones occupied when their tablets are having a recharge. So make sure you pack chargers for your phone and also a power bank. This can come in handy to keep a charge on your phone, especially when you are out at night and might need it.
A comfortable pair of shoes
As a mum, we can often have grand expectations of wearing the shoes we probably don’t have time to wear at home. The wedge sandals, the high heels, and the strappy numbers. It is great to pack them for your holiday but don’t forget to pack a sensible pair of comfortable shoes. The ones that will come in handy for a day trip, or when you want to give your feet a break from all the walking.
Holidays are about relaxing and having fun and while you will want to look and feel your best, it is also a good idea to have a practical pair with you for when you want to run after the kids or enjoy a longer than usual stroll along the beach.
A capsule wardrobe
When you travel abroad, you are likely to be very limited on the amount of luggage you can take, so a great essential for any mum is to pack a capsule wardrobe. This means that you pack essential and investment pieces that can be mixed and matched to create different outfits. It can work really well when dressing for the evening and saves on space in your case while still enabling you to look fantastic.
Things to keep your sanity on holiday
Of course, while there are so many things you might want to pack as essential for your holiday, there are a few things you might not want to forget that will help you to keep your sanity during your holiday. The aim is for you to all enjoy your time away from home. So here are some of the things to pack to help you ensure you enjoy your holiday:
- Paracetamol – For the times you might have an adult headache
- Tablets and tech – This is when usual screen time rules can go out of the window. If you want to enjoy your meal out, you might need something to help occupy the children so you can enjoy it as well.
- Comforters – Some children need their comforters, so don’t forget them. Pack emergency backups if needed.
Hopefully, these suggestions will help to ensure that you pack the travel essentials for your next trip away.
